About
Florence Poets Society was founded the summer of 2004 by Carl Russo and Thomas Clark so that poets could promote and share their writing with each other and with the public. Florence Poets Society (nicknamed FloPo) produces an annual publication called Silkworm which began regionally but now includes contributors from around the globe. Now in its 20th year, Florence Poets continues to support poets and provides support and connection within the western Mass community.
FloPo supports poets and meets in-person typically the 2nd Thursday of every month in the Community Room of the Lilly Library in Florence, Mass.

We also meet virtually (via Zoom) each month on the 4th Thursday of the month which is great for those too far away to commute. Check the event schedule for other poetry opportunities. On monthly get togethers, we take a moment to share business items, news and announcements/mingling at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to attend. From 7pm to 9pm we share poems for gentle critique.
We are grateful to the University of Mass. archives, which provides a page with Tom and Carl's history and which offers poetry links. We honor the work of Carl Russo and Tom Clark (Tommy Twilite) and offer up the Grassroots page with some links to Tom and Carl's poetry.
